At Hellyer Mine in Tasmania’s steep, rain-soaked terrain, we were tasked with 5,000 metres of directional diamond drilling, each hole PVC-lined for surveying. We deployed track-mounted rigs, a modern rig van andexperienced crews to manage mobility, safety andrecision. Our detailed plan ensured target accuracy, core integrity a andocedural consistency under challenging conditions. Throughout the campaign, clear communication with site geologists and stakeholders maintained momentum and operational control.
We were engaged to complete 5,000 metres of directional diamond drilling across steep, mountainous terrain that receives rain more than 250 days a year. Each drill hole had to be successfully lined with PVC for later surveying—something previous contractors had failed to achieve. The extreme topography and persistent weather were significant operational hurdles.
We deployed track-mounted rigs designed for mobility in harsh terrain, supported by a modern rig van to provide comfort and shelter for the crew. Our highly experienced team executed a detailed plan to meet drilling targets and ensure 100% core recovery. We followed a precise process to line each hole with PVC, supported by clear communication with site geologists and stakeholders throughout the campaign.
All drilling was completed on target and to full depth with 100% core recovery. Every orientation was presented accurately and both productivity and safety outcomes exceeded expectations. We recorded zero incidents, maintained continuous operation and earned commendation for our coordination with the client’s technical team.
